My, oh my Mr. Valentine

Valentine's Day happened last week on February 14. It marks a special time for love and friendship all over the world. Valentine's Day is not only for couples. It includes family, friends, and classmates too. In the Philippines, people enjoy flowers, chocolates, dates, and group activities. Schools like Ilocos Sur National High School add fun with recognition events, games, poems, and card exchanges. These simple acts spread joy and strengthen bonds in our communities.

At school that day, the morning began with class recognition. Teachers called out top students for their hard work in academics and projects. Everyone clapped and cheered for friends and classmates. After that, we had pageant practice from 1 to 4 PM to prepare for upcoming events. I stayed on campus, reading and waiting for 1 PM to arrive. It gave me time to think about the day ahead. Later, I went out with a special someone. I surprised her with a bouquet I made myself from fuzzy wire. Learning to twist and shape it took one full week. Classes filled my mornings, so I worked only at night under the light. It was a real challenge, but seeing her smile made every late hour worth it.

These personal touches highlight how Valentine's Day builds care in everyday ways. It fits perfectly with Ilocos Sur's warm community spirit, where people support each other like family. Events like class recognitions and shared practices remind us to value everyone around us. Moments such as crafting that bouquet create memories that last, proving the day brings happiness to all—not just couples.
